People are always asking me which of my self-guided London walks is best to take in which season. To help them, I’ve been running a series on which walks to do when. I’ve already done posts on summer walks, autumn walks, winter walks, and Christmas walks, so now I want to share A Lady in London’s best self-guided spring walks in London with you.

Spring Walks in London

Spring Walks in London

As I’ve mentioned before, you can do any of my walks at any time of year. But some of them are just right for doing in a certain season. Whether it’s because of spring blossoms or summer parks, they’re ideal during specific periods.

Spring is the perfect time to take walks that show off London’s seasonal bulbs and blooms. From magnolias to wisteria, daffodils to tulips, the UK capital comes alive in the spring with colorful flowers.

Tips for a Spring Walk in London

Whichever of my self-guided walking tours in London you choose, remember that the weather in London is unpredictable in spring.

Some years it’s warm by March, others it’s snowing in April. Make sure to check the forecast before you go.

Along those lines, the flowers bloom at slightly different times each year. Sometimes the magnolias come out in February, others in March. The wisteria can start blooming in April or it can hold off until May.

Make sure to do some research before you set off to make sure you time your walk for when you’ll see the flowers at their best (Instagram is a good place to do this).

I also recommend wearing layers and carrying a good umbrella on your spring walks in London. If you’re in the UK, I recommend this umbrella. If you’re in the US, this one is ideal. My spring packing list for London can help with what to wear as well.

This is a great walk if you want to discover a local London neighborhood, and a pretty one at that.

My Chelsea walk is ideal for spring for a couple reasons. First, there are lots of pretty magnolias and wisteria blossoms around the area during the spring. It makes the streets atmospheric and picture-pretty.

Second, if you time your walk to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show and Chelsea in Bloom, you’ll be in for a treat. These floral extravaganzas take Chelsea’s beauty to another level every May.

This walk will give you local insights into the area. It will take you through the pretty mews and along the shopping streets.

This one is ideal for spring because like Kensington, South Kensington has an abundance of wisteria in spring.

5. Self-Guided Walk in Holland Park

The fifth of my of my spring walks in London is in Holland Park. This area is packed with elegant houses and pretty mews, and has one of the best parks in London.

The route will guide you around the neighborhood so you can see the houses, museums, and shops Holland Park is known for. It will also take you through the park, which has spectacular gardens.

My Holland Park walk is ideal for spring for one main reason: the tulips. The tulip garden by the cafe in the middle of the park is one of the most beautiful places in London when the flowers are in bloom.

Every year there are tulips in different colors, and it’s a treat to see them. There are clouds of wisteria along the walls, too.

If you’re up for this self-guided London walk, the route and map are both here.
