There’s a certain time of year in London when the cold finally leaves the city and Londoners flock to the outdoors. As such, many London establishments wisely turn their roof spaces into open-air venues for eating, drinking, and general revelry.

The weather in London has been amazing this week. Accordingly, I’ve spent a lot of my free time hopping from roof to roof in search of the perfect summer locale for a glass of Pimm’s and good conversation.

On Thursday afternoon I went to a networking event at the Queen of Hoxton rooftop bar in Shoreditch.

Pimm’s was flowing all afternoon, and I had myself a nice time meeting new people and enjoying the warmest day London has seen all year.

Roof Terraces in Mayfair

On Friday I headed to another roof garden, this time at the Savile Club in Mayfair. The Brown Club of the UK was co-sponsoring an annual summer reception there for alumni from American universities.

While the interior of the club was beautiful, I spent the evening on the roof terrace talking with old friends and meeting new acquaintances.

At the end of the reception I met a group of Harvard alums that invited me to go with them to Aqua Spirit, a rooftop bar in London’s Soho with a fabulous view over Regent Street.

We spent the night there sipping champagne on the beautiful terrace.

Rooftop Bars on the South Bank

The warm weather carried us into the weekend, and last night I went with friends to the famous Queen Elizabeth Hall Roof Garden on the South Bank. The lush space is one of the best rooftop bars in south London.

We stood looking over the Thames and spent hours enjoying good conversation and views of the London Eye.

Today the weather has continued to impress, and now I’m sitting outside in my garden in Hampstead contemplating what other rooftop bars in London I could go to.

So long as the summer sun continues, I’ll be going from roof to roof in continual search of the perfect place for Pimm’s.
