Today I want to share my review of the Conrad London St James hotel in Westminster with you. This luxury hotel in London is a great place to stay if you want to be in the heart of the city near London landmarks like the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace.
Conrad London St James Hotel
I partner with a travel company for a complimentary stay, browsing through their site before choosing a deal for a room at the five-star Conrad London St James hotel in Westminster.
I have no idea what to expect, but I love a good London luxury hotel, so I show up ready to be impressed.
Conrad London St James Hotel Location
And I am. Surprisingly so, actually. The first thing I like about the hotel is the location.
The Conrad London St James hotel is conveniently right across the street from the St James’s Park tube station, around the corner from the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, and a few streets away from flower-filled St James’s Park, my favorite green space in central London.
Conrad London St James Hotel Interiors
Inside, I like the contemporary decor and cool art in the lobby. The lounge area is buzzing, and the hotel’s reception staff is friendly and welcoming.
My room at the Conrad London St James hotel is small but cozy, with modern masculine decor softened by floral throw pillows on a king bed. The bed itself faces a tall black panel with a huge TV, on either side of which are a desk and table.
The former is well stocked with power outlets for British, European, and American plugs (why don’t more hotels have these?), as well as outlets for connecting my laptop to the TV.
As I settle in, the phone rings. It’s the reception staff calling to make sure I like the room. It’s a nice touch. I say yes, then continue my exploration. The minibar is stocked with coffee pods and luxurious teas, as well as water and milk.
The closet has an iron and ironing board, powerful hair dryer, and robes and slippers. In the surprisingly large and bright bathroom, I discover a glass enclosed shower, separate tub, and cosmetics from Agraria in San Francisco.
It takes me a while to stop exploring, because every time I open a drawer or look in a cupboard, I discover more amenities.
That said, when I look out the window, I’m disappointed by the lack of a view. It’s my only complaint about the Conrad London St James hotel, but at least it’s a small one.
Conrad London St James Hotel Local Area
Eventually I pause my exploration, connect to the WiFi, and start looking up things to do in Westminster. Despite the obvious attractions—Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben—I don’t know the area very well.
I’ve seen the office buildings along Victoria Street and eaten at good restaurants like Cinnamon Club and Quilon, but once outside the hotel I start to discover a bit more.
First there’s Strutton Ground Market. I’m led there by my nose, which picks up the scent of freshly-brewed coffee from Flat Cap and a range of hot foods from all kinds of stalls. This is one of the best London markets in the area.
Then there’s Westminster Cathedral, which I always forget about.
The beautiful candy-striped building takes a back seat to the abbey down the road, but as the mother church of the Catholic faith in England and Wales, it’s an important landmark in its own right.
Off the main roads are pretty little streets full of historic buildings and pubs, and over by St James’s Park are the Churchill War Rooms, one of my favorite historic museums in London.
In the past, I’ve spent hours wandering through the labyrinth of rooms that gave refuge to the UK government during the Blitz in World War II.
Down the street is Victoria station, the second busiest in London, and around the corner is Buckingham Palace, where the Changing the Guard ceremony never ceases to awe my inner tourist.
The Verdict
From the palace, I wander back to the Conrad London St James hotel in Westminster. Between the rooms and the local area, this is one of the best places to stay in London. I wish I could move in permanently.

Yeah! I like that.
I to love London. I work next to the river, and go for a good old walk at lunch time when the weather is good. I enjoy seating at Tower of London at lunch time, when the sun is out. I like Westminster area best, as its near a lot of different things to do. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Mark!
