Today I want to share my review of Mamounia Lounge in Mayfair with you. This London restaurant invited me in to sample its menu, and here’s how it went.
Mamounia Lounge in Mayfair
It’s December. The weather is cold in London and all I want to do is run away to somewhere warm for winter sun. In fact, I’m heading to San Francisco for Christmas next week.
But in the meantime, I’m in London searching for places that will make me forget the chill. In doing so, I remember a restaurant from last winter that made me feel like I was in a warm land far away: Mamounia Lounge.
Right when I needed it most, I got an invitation to visit Mamounia Lounge in Mayfair.
Mamounia Lounge Interior
I’ve been here before for drinks with friends on their sidewalk terrace, but I’ve yet to experience the interior. I walk into the ground floor lounge, check my coat, and head downstairs to the dining room.
Looking around, I’m surrounded by sparkling crystal chandeliers, copper walls, and shiny mirrors. The room is low-lit, with purple accents coming through from the lights overhead.
Mamounia Lounge Mayfair Menu
I sit down for dinner with a friend, and we look at the extensive menu of Lebanese and Moroccan dishes, eager to enjoy some winter comfort food at Mamounia Lounge in Mayfair.
Around us groups of girls celebrate birthdays and a DJ sets up in the corner.
Mamounia Lounge Dinner
We finally choose our dishes, and I start with a plate of grilled halloumi and a glass of Lebanese wine. The cheese is perfectly salty and meaty, and the wine brings back memories of my trip to Beirut last year.
For my main, I choose the chicken tagine. It comes steaming hot from the kitchen and is filled with juicy chicken, plump green olives, and golden potatoes. I eat until every bit is gone, and afterwards feel pleasantly warm.
This may also have something to do with the fact that the night is heating up at Mamounia Lounge in Mayfair. The DJ is playing a set (although I find the music a bit random), and everyone’s getting in the mood for a party.
And what better way to start a party than with dessert? I order the baklava plate, which comes with a heaping portion of small sweet parcels.
Across the table, my friend tucks into slices of mango so fresh that for a moment we’re whisked away to a tropical paradise far from winter in London.
Mamounia Lounge in Mayfair: The Verdict
And that’s what I love about Mamounia Lounge in Mayfair (and their former location in Knightsbridge, for that matter). Whenever I need a break from the chill outside, it’s there to take me to the sunshine.

Yeah!
There is nothing better than Moroccan/Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food! All of it is just to die for! May have to run out to my favorite restaurant now. Thanks for the delicious photos!
You’re welcome!
Yum!
These photos are taking me back to Morocco where it certainly was warm!
That’s great!
That halloumi looks so appetising! I miss that kind of food.
Yeah, it was great!
I wrote a post on here last month, we had a great experience! We went on a rainy week day and it was so cosy. The pastilla of chicken was out of this world!
Lovely blog by the way
