There’s something about a pub. From gastropubs to centuries-old taverns, London’s watering holes are hard to beat. I’ve spent plenty of afternoons and evenings exploring them with friends, and today I want to share my guide to the best pubs in Knightsbridge with you. This area has a lot to offer when it comes to unique places to eat and drink in London, so read on for my top picks. I’ve included an interactive map as well.
Knightsbridge Pubs
I lived in nearby Kensington for years, and I’ve been coming to Knightsbridge since I moved to London. In doing so, I’ve spent time in a lot of the area’s local pubs. They’re some of my favorite places in the neighborhood, and they’re worth a special trip to enjoy.
Whether you’re after quintessential British dishes or traditional English drinks, old-school Knightsbridge pubs or modern ones with celebrity owners, this part of the city has something for every patron.
Each watering hole on my list is worth a dedicated visit in its own right, but you can hit a few in one go if you do my free self-guided Knightsbridge walk. It’s a fun way to explore this upscale area and sample its food and drink offerings as you do. If you’re more interested in a guided tour, this one is just the thing.
If you have additional time and you’d like to go at a more leisurely pace, there are lots of good places to stay in this part of the city. My top pick is The Knightsbridge. This boutique hotel has the charm of a townhouse with added benefits of colorful interiors and creative design. If that appeals, you can book a room here.
1. The Beauchamp
I’ll start my list of the best pubs in Knightsbridge with The Beauchamp. Right on Beauchamp Place, it’s part of a larger 3-floor dining concept that features a bar and club on the lower ground floor, a pub on the ground floor, and a dining room on the first floor.
The pub is a modern number with eclectic decor and a colorful atmosphere. It offers everything from classic pints to craft cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. Its versatility makes it a great place to go at any time of day or evening.
Located just steps away from Harrods, Sloane Street, and Walton Street, The Beauchamp is the perfect spot to rest your legs during a big day of shopping in Knightsbridge.
2. The Bunch of Grapes
Next on my list is The Bunch of Grapes pub in Knightsbridge. Located on bustling Brompton Road near the South Kensington museums, this Grade II-listed Victorian watering hole has an eye-catching historic facade that lures in locals and visitors alike.
Inside, The Bunch of Grapes features heritage touches like wood floors, etched glass, snob screens, and a real fireplace. In short, there’s loads of historic atmosphere to enjoy.
As far as food and drinks go, this place is known for its fish and chips. It also serves Sunday roast and vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes. You can find a range of classic ales and new pours here, too.
The pub is also a family-friendly and dog-friendly place, and it has a section with table service (if you’re not familiar with London pubs, that’s a rarity).
3. The Paxtons Head
Next on my list is The Paxtons Head. Right by the Knightsbridge tube station and Hyde Park, this place is housed in an iconic Grade II-listed building.
Dating back to the early 20th century, The Paxtons Head was initially built as a Victorian gin palace. The interior features heritage oak panels, striking red brick, etched mirrors, original tilework, and other period details.
Beyond atmosphere, the pub serves classics like burgers, fish and chips, and salads, as well as craft ales. It also screens live sports and offers karaoke nights and entertaining musical performances.
4. Tattersalls Tavern
Tattersalls Tavern is another local pub in Knightsbridge. Tucked away off the high street, this Greene King-owned watering hole is right near Harrods and Harvey Nichols.
Tattersalls Tavern was named after the Tattersall’s horse market, which historically took place on this site. While the aesthetics of the pub aren’t much to write home about, it’s a cozy place in a great location in the heart of the neighborhood.
The menu offers burgers, pies, and chili, as well as plenty of drinks and puddings. The pub also offers live sports on big screens. Tattersalls is family-friendly and dog-friendly, too.
5. The Gloucester
Next on my list of the best Knightsbridge pubs is The Gloucester. Right on the border of Belgravia and Knightsbridge, it’s the only pub on Sloane Street.
The Gloucester was recently purchased by famous film director Guy Ritchie, and it’s currently closed for a massive renovation. When it reopens, it’s set to join his other London establishments as one of the city’s trendy watering holes. Watch this space.
