I need your help. A company that sponsored a post on my blog is refusing to pay me. I don’t earn a salary, so I can’t afford to keep the A Lady in London blog running if my sponsors don’t make good on our agreements. As such, today I want to ask you to help me tell this company they need to pay.
The Situation
The company, Club 1 Hotels, sponsored a post on my blog and won’t pay me because they didn’t get as much as they wanted out of the partnership. Our agreement never guaranteed they would get anything specific out of it, and I have a paper trail to prove my case.
To make matters worse, the company has resorted to falsely accusing me of faking my stats to justify their refusal to pay. I’ve sent them proof they’re wrong, but they’ve ignored it.
It’s upsetting to hear their lies, and even more upsetting to know companies like this exist. Above all, it’s devastating to know that I’ll have to shut the A Lady in London blog down if sponsors fail to pay. It’s particularly distressing coming right after I’ve been in the hospital, too.
I don’t want to let this company get away with this kind of unethical behavior, and I don’t want to close the blog down. I hope you’ll help me. Together we can ensure the A Lady in London blog has a future.
How You Can Help
There are a few ways you can help, and I’ve outlined them below. The simplest is to send an email on my behalf. I’ve written a sample message so you can copy and paste it into an email. It takes less than a minute and would help a lot.
You can also call, write, or use social media to get their attention.
Send an Email
Here’s a sample email you can send. You’re welcome to put it in your own words or send a message of your own as well.
To Whom it May Concern:
I’m writing in support of the A Lady in London blog, which your company has done a partnership with and has failed to pay. I want to urge you to honor the terms of your agreement and make the payment as soon as possible.
Regards,
X
You can send the email to these email addresses: info@club1hotels.com and MemberServices@Club1Hotels.com.
Use Social Media
I’ve included the company’s social media handles below. Any messages or comments you send them to tell them that their behavior is unacceptable and that they need to pay me would be great. You can even use the same sample message I outlined in the email section above.
Instagram
Facebook
Twitter
LinkedIn
Call
The company’s phone number is +1 312-529-8474 (they’re based in Chicago, so it’s a US number).
Write
If you prefer snail mail, their address is:
Club 1 Hotels
1000 N. Milwaukee Ave.
Suite 303
Chicago, IL 60642
USA
I’m also going to pursue the payment via legal means, but I hope the pressure from all of you will show them their behavior has not gone unnoticed and that they need to make good on our agreement.
I’ll keep you posted on how things go. Together I hope we can make a difference to the situation and keep the blog going. Thank you for your support. It means a lot to me.
That is really upsetting. I actually signed up for the club after reading your post. Glad I hadn’t booked any stays yet! I just tweeted in support. Hopefully this gets resolved soon.
Thanks, Anisa! I really appreciate it.
They will soon know how incredibly misguided they have been. Clearly, they are lost in some old world / non digital lost paradigm.
I hope you’re right.
Done from Norway, Trondheim.
Thanks, Marit! I appreciate your support.

Has anyone else responded about the email the company sent as a reply? It wasn’t very professional.
Yeah, a number of people have forwarded it to me. It’s really disappointing to see how unprofessionally they’re behaving.
I would fire someone who wrote such an unprofessional email on behalf of my company. Good luck dealing with this snarky crew.
Thanks! I agree.
Email sent! I’m sorry you’re having to deal with such an unethical company. I hope it’s resolved soon.
Thanks! I hope so, too.
I sent an email as suggested. I also let them know that I have a home in London as well as NY and that I travel frequently throughout Europe. And that I do book hotels.

Anita
Thanks, Anita! Their email response to people is really disappointing.
Have you thought about reporting them to the better business bureau? They’re based in the US so should work? Companies usually react very quickly when reported! So sorry this has happened.
I hadn’t thought about that. Thanks for the tip!
Message sent! Hope it helps 😊
Thanks, Lydia!
I have written too!
Thanks, Connie!
I just spontaneously booked a flight to London to surprise a dear friend for her upcoming big birthday. Looking for ideas of different things to do in London, & further afield, on this 3rd trip across the pond, I discovered your blog on Sunday & spent 12+ hours on the couch perusing your plethora of info nuggets. I have e-mailed Club1 Hotels on your behalf urging them to honor their commitment to you. I hope you have an outpouring of support to help resolve this.
Thanks, Robin! I’m so glad you found my blog helpful and I appreciate the support.
I sent them an email and their response was totally unprofessional (which I proceeded to tell them). Also posted on their social media and got a petty comment back on there. I really hope you are able to get them to pay, they absolutely don’t deserve a post on your blog.
Thanks, Noelle! I really appreciate you standing up for me. It’s been disappointing to see their responses.
Done!
Thanks, Ana! I appreciate it.
Shameful ! have sent email, good luck.

Thanks, Sabrina! I really appreciate the California love.
Done. With a little extra New York attitude 😉

Sent email to both addresses. They sent an unprofessional reply back to me. Shameful company. I will never use them. So sorry you’re having to deal with this. I really enjoy your blog!
Judie
Thanks, Judie! Their behavior is really disappointing.
Hi Julia, I’m really sorry you’re going through such an upsetting situation. I sent an email to both addresses and got an automatic unprofessional response from one of the just seconds after sending mine. Its content you probably already know. I’m sorry you’ll probably turn to legal means… Good luck and don’t loose heart!
Take care,
Aleksandra
Thanks so much! It’s terrible to see how they’re behaving.
Sent the email, best of luck in getting this resolved quickly!!
Thanks, Malia! I appreciate your support.
I’ve just unsubscribed from their email list and asked for them to pay you. Good luck Julie
Thanks, Karen! I appreciate your support.

Thanks, Mike! Your support means so much to me.
I just emailed them. I wish you the best and love your blog.
Thanks, Bethany! I really appreciate it.
I emailed the Members email… Just a note that they’ve actually become quite rude in response. I’ve now had several emails back and forth (after expecting them to ignore it!)
Thanks so much for your support, Tahsis! I’ve seen the email they’re sending people and I’m really disappointed by how rude it is.
Done.
Thanks, Erica!
Have done it – this is just crazy and when will people start paying for the hard work bloggers like yourself put in. New Content is what drives traffic and that’s what you give them. Hope they wake up and pay in your invoice. Best wishes as always x
Thanks, Abhishek! I really appreciate your support.
emailed, social media-d, and shared! This is not acceptable!
Thanks, Laura! I’m really grateful for your support.
I’ve tweeted the hotel chain. It’s a shame a business, especially a business that should be focused on maintaining a positive and professional image can’t honor a contract. I don’t know what your agreement was but they certainly should have the means to pay you. Like I said on Twitter, sometimes you don’t the return you were expecting. I hope it all works out for you.
Thanks, Greg! I hope so, too.
Any success with getting paid?
Thanks! I’m still working on it.
Sent an email. Hope it turns out well. Keep us posted. Love your blog!
Thanks, Rachel!
