Lady’s 6 Best Views of Hong Kong

Today I want to share my guide to the best views of Hong Kong with you. This part of China has amazing vista points, whether from parks or skyscrapers. I hope you enjoy discovering them.

Best Views of Hong Kong

When I first moved to London, I thought I would be here for two years then move to Hong Kong. Hong Kong has such amazing energy, and makes me feel like I’m in the past and future at the same time.

But what I really love about it is that no matter where I go there’s an amazing view. I’ve taken a little (okay, BIG) detour on my way home from Seattle, traveling to Hong Kong before going back to London.

My round-the-world adventure has given me time to explore more of the city, and today I bring you A Lady in London’s 6 best views of Hong Kong.

1. Views of Hong Kong from Victoria Peak

Sure, it’s touristy. But Victoria Peak has one of the most expansive views of Hong Kong, from the skyscrapers in Central to the waterfront in Kowloon.

Taking the tram up to the top is an adventure in itself, and the sweeping panoramas of the city are worth the trip.

2. Views of Hong Kong from Central’s Skyscrapers

Hong Kong’s skyline is as iconic as they come, and the views from the skyscrapers in Central are some of the best views of Hong Kong. If I head up to the higher floors of any hotel, I’m rewarded with great views of Kowloon Bay.

In fact, for part of this trip I’m staying at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong, and the views from my room are spectacular.

Better yet, I have friends that live up the hill in Central and I can see the district’s skyscrapers in the foreground from their flat. Even better still, I catch a bad case of jet lag and see it all at sunrise.

3. Views of Hong Kong from the Rooftop Bars

Rooftop bars are popular in any city, but in this one they come with the added benefit of some of the best views of Hong Kong.

SEVVA in Central is one of my favorites. It’s high enough to have a view, but low enough that there’s still a chance to be awed by the skyscrapers towering above.

4. Views of Hong Kong from Boats and Ferries

One of the most popular attractions in Hong Kong is also one of its most frequented modes of public transport. The Star Ferry runs between Hong Kong and Kowloon, and as it does it offers great views of both from the water.

But it doesn’t have a monopoly on Hong Kong’s best bay views. There are plenty of other seafaring vessels that offer the same—if not better.

After a great time on the Aqua Luna ferry on my last trip to Hong Kong, I booked another round to soak up the night sky, with its never-ending neon lights.

5. Views of Hong Kong from Kowloon

If Hong Kong has good views, Kowloon has great ones. The views of Central from the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront between the Avenue of Stars and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre are some of the best views of Hong Kong.

Standing on the raised viewing platform by the public pier, I could watch the city all day and night.

But the best time to watch is during the city’s nightly light show, when over 40 skyscrapers coordinate their neon and strobes to music. It’s the world’s largest permanent light and sound show, and it’s worth taking a look.

6. Views of Hong Kong from Chi Lin Nunnery

After reading about the Chi Lin Nunnery and adjacent Nan Lian Garden on a friend’s blog, I headed over to Diamond Hill to explore.

I thought I was in for a day of exploring beautiful gardens and a peaceful Buddhist temple complex—and I was.

But what really struck me was the view from the top of the nunnery. The traditional wooden design of the complex stood out so starkly against the backdrop of modern skyscrapers that I couldn’t stop staring at the view.

As much as I love Central and Kowloon, I think Diamond Hill might have the best views in Hong Kong.
